We fit solid oak, walnut, and maple planks over a prepared subfloor, with options for nail-down or glue-down methods. The work includes moisture testing, acclimation, and a final sanding pass before the finish goes on.
For basements, concrete slabs, or radiant-heat systems, engineered planks offer dimensional stability without losing the look of real wood. We handle click-lock and glue-down formats, including wide-plank layouts up to 9 inches.
Geometric medallions, brass strip accents, or a simple contrasting border — we mill and fit inlay pieces to match your room's proportions. This is a design-led service, so we start with a scale drawing before any cutting happens.
We sand existing hardwood down to bare wood, repair damaged boards, and apply a fresh stain and topcoat. Typical projects cover kitchens, hallways, and rental turnovers where the floor is sound but the surface is worn.

Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of timber, so it can be sanded and refinished several times over its life. Engineered wood has a real hardwood veneer bonded to a plywood core, which makes it more stable in humid or heated spaces and allows installation over concrete slabs or radiant heat systems. For a ground-level room with consistent climate, solid is a strong choice. For basements, kitchens, or offices above concrete, engineered usually performs better.
Most installations take two to four days depending on room size, layout complexity, and whether we are removing existing flooring. Custom patterns like herringbone or chevron add a day because each plank is cut and fitted individually. Refinishing an existing floor typically runs three to five days, including sanding, staining, and applying multiple coats of finish with proper drying time between each.
We recommend letting the wood acclimate in the room for at least 72 hours before installation. This lets the planks adjust to the room's temperature and humidity, which reduces the risk of gaps or buckling later. For wide-plank oak and walnut, we often extend that to five days because wider boards move more noticeably with moisture changes.
Dust with a soft-bristle broom or a vacuum designed for hard floors at least once a week. Wipe spills immediately with a slightly damp cloth, and avoid steam mops or wet mopping, which can damage the finish over time. Place felt pads under furniture legs and use rugs in high-traffic entryways. Every two to three years, a light screen-and-recoat refreshes the finish without a full sanding.

Herringbone and chevron patterns add visual interest and make a room feel more designed, but they cost more because of the extra cutting, fitting, and waste. Wide-plank boards (5 inches and wider) create a cleaner, more modern look with fewer seams and are often faster to install. Custom inlays, like a border or a geometric centerpiece, are the most labor-intensive option and are usually reserved for entryways or formal rooms.
