Terms of Use for Flooring Services
These terms govern how Southern Cross Floors provides hardwood flooring, engineered wood, custom inlay, and refinishing services, and how you may use this website and engage our team.
Scope of Services
Southern Cross Floors supplies and installs premium hardwood flooring, engineered wood planks, custom inlays, and refinishing work for residential and commercial properties. Each project begins with a consultation, on-site measurement, and a written quote that lists materials, finish options, and installation timelines. We do not begin work until you approve the scope in writing, and any changes to that scope are documented before they are carried out.
Client Responsibilities
You agree to provide access to the property during agreed working hours, ensure that the installation area is clear of furniture and personal items, and confirm that any existing flooring conditions, such as moisture levels or subfloor irregularities, are disclosed before work starts. If site conditions differ from what was described during the consultation, we will pause and discuss revised options and costs before continuing.
Material Selection and Grain Variation
Hardwood is a natural material, and grain patterns, color tones, and mineral streaks vary from plank to plank. Samples shown during consultation represent the range of the species and finish, not an exact match for every board. We select and lay planks to balance tone across the room, but we cannot guarantee identical color across the entire floor. Engineered wood products follow the same principle, with factory finishes that may differ slightly between batches.
Installation and Refinishing Process
Our installation team prepares the subfloor, acclimates materials, and follows the pattern and layout agreed in your quote. Refinishing work involves sanding, staining, and applying protective topcoats. Dust and odor are normal during sanding, and we ask that you allow the recommended curing time before moving furniture back or walking on the surface. We provide written care instructions after every project, and following them is required to keep the warranty valid.
Payment, Quotes, and Cancellation
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. A deposit is required to reserve an installation date, with the balance due upon completion and your walkthrough approval. If you cancel a confirmed project less than seven days before the scheduled start, the deposit is non-refundable because materials and labor have already been allocated. Any additional work requested during installation is billed separately and confirmed with you before it begins.
Warranty and Liability Limits
We warrant our installation workmanship for one year from the completion date, covering issues such as loose boards, visible gaps, or finish defects that arise from our work. Natural wear, water damage, scratches, and changes caused by humidity or sunlight are not covered. Our liability is limited to the value of the services provided for the affected area, and we are not responsible for indirect damages, including loss of use of the property or damage to items placed on the floor after installation.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, materials, or legal requirements. The current version is always available on this page, and continued use of our website or services after changes are posted means you accept the revised terms.
